System Safety Presentation 

The following presentation is open to all System Safety professionals and others interested in system safety:

 The title of the presentation is: "Safety Within Healthcare"

The presentation will cover the epidemiology of adverse events and preventable adverse events.  Discussion will focus on the methods of identifying adverse events and preventable adverse events, as well as highlighting some of the responses by the healthcare system to address the problems.

The speaker is Alan Forster, M.D., FRCPC, MSc. Alan is currently a research scientist at the Ottawa Health Research Institute and Assistant Professor at the University of Ottawa. He holds a medical degree with specialization in internal medicine, as well as a Master of Science degree in Epidemiology. Alan has over 20 peer-reviewed journal publications, and has received significant research funding and awards, the most recent award being a 5-year Career Scientist Award from the Ontario Ministry of Health, Health Research Development Program.

Présentation sur la sécurité des systèmes

 Cette présentation s’adresse à tous les professionnels de la sécurité des systèmes et à ceux qui s’y intéressent.

La présentation s’intitule : « La sécurité dans les soins de santé ».

 Cette présentation traitera de l’épidémiologie des événements indésirables et des événements indésirables évitables.  La discussion portera sur les méthodes d’identification des événements indésirables et présentera quelques unes des réponses proposées par le système de santé pour faire face à ces problèmes. 

Le conférencier est Alan Forster, M.D., FRCPC, M.Sc. Alan est actuellement chercheur à l’Institut de recherche en santé d’Ottawa et professeur adjoint à l’Université d’Ottawa. Il possède un diplôme en médecine avec spécialisation en médecine interne et une maîtrise ès sciences en épidémiologie.  Alan a publié plus de 20 articles de journaux fiables et a reçu du financement pour ses recherches et des prix importants, le plus récent étant une Bourse de carrière en recherche de cinq ans du ministère de la Santé de l’Ontario, Programme de recherche et de développement dans le domaine de la santé.
