The following presentation is open to all system safety professionals and others interested in system safety.

 The title of the presentation is: “The Safety Spectrum”

 Commitment to safe operations varies from one company to the next; hence the notion of a spectrum of safety and safety management. The Safety Spectrum speaks to behaviours exhibited by players in their attempt to reconcile business, safety and management issues. The Safety Spectrum categorizes these behaviours under cultural labels that, if approached frankly and soberly, can help companies and their regulators advance the cause of safety by using the strategies on offer.

 This presentation will provide an overview of the Safety Spectrum. 

 The speaker is Mr. Bryce Fisher – author of the Safety Spectrum article which was first published in the July/August 2005 issue of the ICAO Journal and subsequently in the 1/2006 issue of the Aviation Safety Letter. Bryce Fisher is the Manager, Safety Promotion and Education at Transport Canada in Ottawa. He has been in aviation for over 28 years as an air traffic controller, professional pilot, consultant and regulator. Currently, his work involves managing a Division responsible for the development of safety promotion and educational products aimed at sensitizing the civil aviation community to emerging safety issues and trends and sharing lessons learned and best practices.

 NOTE:  Following the presentation, there will be a brief demonstration of NAVCAN developed ATS simulation software integrated with large plasma displays, which are also undergoing ATS evaluation. 

Directions:

After crossing Hunt Club proceed southbound on Riverside, turn left on Limebank (first left).  On Limebank take the first left turn, which is Tom Roberts.  There is a parking lot in front of the facility.  There are two buildings; the correct building has the air traffic control tower

 Présentation sur la sécurité des systèmes

 La présentation suivante est offerte à tous les professionnels du domaine de la sécurité des systèmes et aux autres personnes que ce sujet intéresse.

 La présentation a pour titre : The Safety Spectrum (La gamme de sécurité)

 Toutes les entreprises ne manifestent pas le même engagement envers la sécurité, d’où la notion de gamme de sécurité et de gestion de la sécurité. La gamme de sécurité décrit les comportements qu’affichent les intervenants pour concilier affaires, sécurité et gestion. La gamme de sécurité catégorise ces comportements sous des références culturelles qui, considérées d’un point de vue franc et posé, peuvent aider les entreprises et leurs organes de réglementation à servir la cause de la sécurité grâce aux stratégies disponibles.

 La présentation offrira un survol de la gamme de sécurité.

 Le conférencier est M. Bryce Fisher – auteur de l’article La gamme de sécurité, publié pour la première fois dans le numéro juillet/août 2005 du Journal OACI sous le titre Le spectre de sécurité, puis dans le numéro 1/2006 de Sécurité aérienne – Nouvelles. Bryce Fisher est gestionnaire, Promotion et sensibilisation en matière de sécurité à Transports Canada, à Ottawa. Il est associé au monde de l’aviation depuis plus de 28 ans à titre de contrôleur de la circulation aérienne, de pilote professionnel, de consultant et de responsable de la réglementation. Il est actuellement responsable de l’élaboration de produits de promotion et de sensibilisation en matière de sécurité visant à sensibiliser les acteurs de l’aviation civile aux nouveaux enjeux et tendances en matière de sécurité et à leur communiquer leçons et pratiques exemplaires.
